Trey Thornton is the owner of
Thornton Custom Homes. Trey was born and raised in Austin, TX. He has a degree in Business Management and began working for a national builder in Austin in 1998. Trey quickly rose through the ranks from a superintendent to project manager to area manager, overseeing all of the north Austin subdivisions at that time. Having learned his trade during the Austin building boom in the late 90’s and early 00’s, he was provided invaluable training and experience.
In 2004, Trey’s family made the decision to move to calmer waters from Austin to Abilene. Trey took over the home construction responsibilities of a family friend who had started a large development outside of Dyess (Hampton Hills). After several years and much growth, Trey decided to begin working independently. Over his career, he has built hundreds of custom and spec homes in Austin, the Big Country and surrounding communities, as well as began the Caprock Ridge development. Trey’s homes can be found all over the area; Caprock Ridge, Hunter’s Landing, Tuscany Ridge, The Tributes, and Fairway Oaks to name a few.
Trey has been married for 24 years and has raised his family in the Wylie community. His wife, Angie, is a former Wylie and Cooper high school teacher turned local Mortgage Lender! She made this career shift in 2018 and works for City Bank Mortgage in Abilene. Together, they have one son (current Aggie!), a daughter (Baylor grad!), and a new son-in-law (also an Aggie!) With Trey and Angie being lifelong Longhorn fans and a University of Texas grad….it is truly a “house divided”!
Trey and Angie are grateful for the decision made to raise their family in the Abilene community and are honored to have the opportunity to help other families make their homes here as well.
